Make her blush...
...by telling her she is beautiful -- Every day.
"True beauty in a Woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she knows."

Sugar Baby: Confections, Candies and Cakes.
This sugar-aficionado's handbook is filled with recipes for lollipops, rock candy, marshmallows, mousse and more. Accompanied by toothsome photos and told with chef Gesine Bullock-Prado's laugh-out-loud sense of humour, Sugar Baby is a great accompaniment to a shower gift, hostess gift or a spectacular treat for yourself.
Baking a cake or a batch of cookies is not an activity that I find particularly intimidating. However, making candies from scratch seemed terrifying and outside the reach of this home cook's skill set. Enter, Sugar Baby -- a cookbook dedicated to delicious sugary treats, filled with recipes that make them accessible even to cooks who have never tried making candy at home – and just might leave you with a big sweet tooth after reading it.
The book is just as cheerful as the candies that grace its pages. You may not find yourself quitting your day job to open a candy store with this as your only reference, but it is a safe bet that you are going to add some delicious and surprisingly easy to make sweet treats to your repertoire.
Sugar Baby: Confections, Candies, Cakes & Other Delicious Recipes for Cooking with Sugar is available at Chapter.ca and Amazon.com

Who says your gown has to be white.
Brides these days are starting to take BIG risks...
Not only are they experimenting with color in their wedding parties and reception halls, but some are even daring to NOT wear white themselves. I think it's pretty extraordinary! Here are some pictures from an autumn wedding where the bride chose go against the grain and wear pomegranate raw silk.

Be Bold This Summer.
With warm weather creeping up and fun summer events kicking off, we wanted to share these bright, bold designs courtesy of Pepper Design Blog. Find inspiration in the rich and colourful shades of summer. This light-hearted and fun palette is suitable for any summer gathering. Whether you are planning an upcoming event, baby shower, wedding shower, rehearsal dinner or a simple family barbeque - Be sure to celebrate summer with the the ones you love and embrace fun colours and patterns.
PDB's suggestions:
DECOR - "I love the look of these simple teal vintage vases featured on Style Me Pretty {you’re sure to find a thrift store similar look, even in a clear or white variety} filled with single bunches of tulips and roses. The yellow poms are perfect as well! These raffia drink stirrers by Martha are the perfect addition to a signature pink grapefruit cocktail. While Lollipop Events & Designs has nailed an ideal pattern for chair covers (it fits each of our colors!) I would be equally happy tying in a similar remnant strip as a table runner. I love Amy Butler’s coreopsis pattern as another option."
Happy summer!

Will You Marry Me?
Will you marry me? These four simple words have withstood the passage of time. But while the phrasing never goes out of date, the presentation of marriage proposals has dramatically changed.
The first question people ask when they hear about an engagement is, "How did you (he) propose?"
There is no excuse for an ordinary, unromantic proposal. 80 percent of women said they were disappointed in how they were proposed to (due to lack of creativity and thoughtfulness).
WHAT EVERY MAN NEEDS TO KNOW (about the perfect proposal):
Bigger is not always better. With that said, creating a personal and thoughtful effort towards her dream proposal will speak for itself when you watch her share the story from when she said "yes!"
- Great engagements do not need to be expensive - just creative.
- If you are not certain what type of ring to get her, go with a placeholder ring.
- Your engagement should reflect you as a couple and your unique relationship.
- Incorporate what she likes. Brainstorm to find out things she loves, the things that make her happy or that she has always wanted to do.
- Think about the small details. Details are what make an amazingly personalized proposal.
- Document it -- smartphones, flipcams, whatever it takes. You will be glad you did and so will she.

1930's love story inspiration
I absolutely love this styled shoot by Marilyn Nakazato Photography. The perfect balance of vintage inspiration and modern sensibility. Whether you are planning an upcoming dinner party, social event, engagement soiree or wedding - Draw on inspiration from your favourite love story.
Based on the acclaimed bestseller, WATER FOR ELEPHANTS tells the story of an unexpected romance in a uniquely compelling setting. Veterinary school student Jacob meets and falls in love with Marlena, a star performer in a circus of a bygone era. They discover beauty amidst the world of the Big Top, and come together through their compassion for a special elephant. Against all odds -- Jacob and Marlena find lifelong love.
"The reception tablescape included centerpieces with pops of color against soft creamed colored flowers to tie in a bit of the whimsical circus element. We chose to use vintage mismatched china, platters and colored goblets along tea light candles against intricate beaded table linens to create a soft intimate glam in an outdoor setting.” - Marilyn Nakazato.
